Aimee started her real estate career in 2010, in the midst of a recession. As she watched her savings and investments quickly decline, and listened to friend after friend talk about all the money they had lost in the market, she decided to empty her accounts and invest in real estate. It seemed like the only logical thing to do… the prices were right (she was living in the resort community of Big Sky, MT, where prices had fallen to half the value of what they had been four or five years earlier, and foreclosures were rampant), and she felt confident that she could rent her properties for enough money to cover her expenses and even make a little extra as values eventually appreciated again. Long story short, she focused on what had been solid markets that had fallen drastically, but were likely to eventually come back strongly. Fifteen years later, Aimee has bought, furnished, managed, had others manage, rented short term and long term, sold, 1031 exchanged and flipped multiple properties in multiple states, and is always on the lookout for the next one. She has taught many people the ins and outs of vacation rental ownership, and finally decided to put her knowledge into one concise, comprehensive guide.
